Curriculum
Children are like wet cement.
Whatever falls on them makes an impression.

Scott Family Childcare Learning Center follows a play-based curriculum. We believe that play is a very important part of a developmentally appropriate infant and toddler and preschool program. Play is a child’s work. It is the young child’s way of reaching out to learn about the world around them.

Our approach is thoughtful and balanced. It is also developmentally appropriate and based on best practices in our field. Our program is inspired by a variety of philosophies and approaches, which we blend together into a program that reflects our commitment to helping children lay the best possible social, emotional, physical and cognitive foundations.

In our program, children have uninterrupted periods of play time in which to enjoy self-chosen activities. With a variety of materials, children are encouraged to work out individual ideas and foster their creativity. Our program incorporates child-initiated free choice and teacher-initiated activities. We balance individual exploration with group activities and projects. We have a wide range of learning areas, both indoors and outdoors enabling children to explore.
Children thrive in an environment that offers a variety of activities in a rich, well-equipped environment with a consistent, but flexible daily schedule. They depend on predictable routines.
